The various hill country and
mountainous region of the Cilento National Park is limited by
hundred kilometer-long and beautiful coast. In
the country-inside you find a whole region to
olive slopes and chestnut forests. On the coast
alternate beautiful sandy beaches and impressive
cliff accidents, with a multiplicity of grottos
and ravines which are to be reached partly only
by boat.
The national park del "Cilento e Vallo di Diano"
applies about more than 200.000 ha of country
surface. The therefore protected nature allows
only a subtle tourism in this area and gets
therefore the good water quality, the big and
intact vegetation and animal kingdom and also
the villages. The national park belongs to the
biosphere reserve of the UNESCO.
Abroad the Cilento is still unknown and you find
here in the low season hardly tourism, because
the Italian guests spend the vacation almost in
July and August. In the winter months one has
even the feeling that the places go in a
hibernation.
The Cilentaner love to celebrate and so it is
not amazing that each saint has his own
religious celebration, with big firework.
